Asif Ghafoor’s appointment as Quetta Corps Commander shows generals are on same page

Rawalpindi: Lt. General Asif Ghafoor has been appointed as Commander of the 12th Corps after Corps Commander Quetta Lt.General Sarfaraz Ali died in a helicopter crash.

While the new appointment of the former DG ISPR has been welcomed by some political parties, it also put to rest the speculations about differences between the army high command over the removal of former prime minister Imran Khan.

According to a political commentator, the appointment made by the Chief of the Army Staff shows that General Qamar Javed Bajwa sent one of his trusted men to assume charge of 12th Corps.

He said that the army’s 12th Corps is highly sensitive and important corp.
