Bilawal believes in study which said COVID to kill 78,000 people in Pakistan in a single day: Asad Umar
Islamabad: Federal Minister for Planning and Development Asad Umar on Saturday said Bilawal Bhutto Zardari had told him during a meeting last year that he believed in the Imperial College study about Pakistan regarding the impact of coronavirus in Pakistan.
The report ,which was found to be wrong, had predicted that 78,000 people could die in Pakistan in a single day in the pandemic.
As the center and Sindh locked horns over the lockdown imposed in Karachi, Asad Umar addressed the Pakistan People’s Party (PPP) leader, saying “This is obviously a subject that you do not understand very well. Please do not politicize the Covid response.”
The federal government and ruling party leaders are opposing the lockdown which the Sindh government has imposed to prevent the spread of Delta variant of the virus.
The lockdown has been imposed till August 8.
