Canadian High Commissioner summoned over Tom Kmiec’s remarks against Army Chief General Bajwa

Islamabad: The Canadian High Commissioner to Pakistan was summoned to the Foreign Office and a strong démarche was served over a Canadian lawmaker’s controversial remarks against Chief of Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The HC was told that the recent statement by Canadian MP Tom Kmiec was against diplomatic norms and highly irresponsible.

Tom Kmiec, a member of the Canada’s Conservative Party, made the remarks against the Pakistan’s army chief in the house of Commons, the lower house of the Canadian parliament.

While raising a question regarding Bajwa’s 2020 visit that was cancelled due to COVID-19, Kmiec levelled some serious allegations against the Pakistani army.
