Coronavirus in Iran: A list of high profile deaths caused by COVID-19

Nearly one thousand people have been killed and thousands others infected by the novel coronavirus (COVID-19) in Iran.

The outbreak , one of the deadliest outside of China, has killed or infected a host of senior officials, politicians, doctors, commanders of the elite Revolutionary Guards and clerics and an adviser to Foreign Minister Mohammad Javad Zarif.

The Islamic republic is the epicenter of the outbreak in the Middle East and also a cause of the epidemic spread to neighboring Pakistan.
