Coronavirus spray in Pakistan: Army says viral message is fake

Karachi: Pakistan cyber space is flooded with all kind of hoaxes and misinformation ever since the novel coronavirus cases saw a dramatic surge in the country.

On Thursday, Whatsapp groups and Faceboob were were abuzz with a fake message regarding “coronavirus spray” with users claiming that the Pakistan Army will spray some pesticides using special military helicopters at midnight against the virus.

“Pakistan Army’s special helicopters will spray pesticides against coronavirus. People are instructed to stay in doors after 12 AM and keep all your clothes, utensils and other belongings inside for the next few days,” read the fake alert doing the rounds on Facebook and Whatsapp.

Commenting on the alert, The Pakistan Army’s media wing said it’s fake.
