Drowned Pakistani child evokes memory of Alan Kurdi

Peshawar: Rescue 1122 has confirmed that the body of the child whose picture has gone viral on social media was found in Nowshera district of Khyber Paktunkhwa.

The Media Coordinator of Rescue 1122, Nabeel Khan, said the body of the minor girl was found floating in rainwater near the banks of River Kabul.

The death of the Pakistani child evoked memory of Alan Kurdi, a two-year-old Syrian boy who drowned in the Mediterranean Sea in 2015.

The picture of her dead body was shared with false captions, with some people saying she died in Balochistan while others claiming that the minor girl belonged to South Punjab.

Floods triggered by torrential rains has wreaked havoc in large swathes of Pakistan, killing hundreds of people in Balochistan, South Punjab and Karachi.
