Gen (retd) Arif Hasan urged to resign after Pakistani athletes fail to win gold at Tokyo Olympics

Islamabad: Pakistan Olympic Association (POA) President, retired Lt Gen Syed Arif Hasan is facing backlash after Pakistan athletes failed to win a single gold medal during Olympic Games Tokyou 2020.

Online criticism intensified after Arshad Nadeem qualified for the finals of the javelin throw and lost to India Neeraj Chopra.

The difference between the two athletes was that Neeraj publicly thanked his government for providing him world class training facilities while Arshad Nadeem lacked everything required to compete in international games.

Gen (retd) Arif Hasan was blamed for his incompetence as during his tenure of 17 years Pakistani athletes failed to win a single gold medal.
