Govt cancels ARY News NOC

Islamabad: The government on Friday cancelled the NOC issued to ARY News, days after Shahbaz Gill made controversial remarks about the army.

A notification issued by the Interior Minister said the NoC issued in favor of ARY News has been cancelled with immediate effect and until further orders on the basis of adverse reports from agencies.

Journalists bodies , lawyers and members of the civil society have condemned the move and called it an attack on freedom of speech.

The broadcaster said the government’s move will hurt thousands of its employees.
