Heartbroken Maulana Tariq Jameel responds to Azadi Marchers’ verbal assault

Islamabad: Maulana Tariq Jameel who is recuperating after undergoing a heart procedure has responded to the criticism and verbal attacks by none other than clerics from his own school of thought.

Seen as the most vicious attacks on the Tableeghi Jamaat scholar, Jamiat Ulema-i-Islam-Fazl sympathizer Maulana Manzoor Mengal led the campaign against Tariq Jameel from atop Maulana Fazlur Rehman’s container.

His speech was followed by a social media campaign from Azadi March supporters against Tariq Jameel.

Columnist and TV show host Javed Chaudhry on Friday wrote that he has friendly relationship with the Tableeghi Jamaat scholar who recently telephoned him after having third stunt inserted into his heart.

Speaking about his illness, the maulana jokingly told the journalist that he had to undergo the procedure after receiving “millions of abuses”.

Chaudhry wrote in his Urdu language column that he tried to convince Tariq Jameel “If we want to live, we should always keep in mind that we are not living in any (civilized) society”.

Chaudhry said when he tried to console the cleric arguing that people who somehow manage to survive in Pakistani society and die peacefully on their beds should see it an accomplishment.

He wrote that Maulana Tariq Jameel was heart broken over the filthy language used against him by those who are regarded as Ulema.

“People can have difference of opinion with me, but who gave them the right to use filthy language against me. And who are these people abusing me,” Javed Chaudhry quoted Maulana Tariq Jameel as saying in their telephonic conversation.
