IHC sets aside ruling asking ECP to decide PTI foreign funding case in 30 days

Islamabad: The Islamabad High Court on Thursday set aside an earlier ruling which had directed the Election Commission of Pakistan decide the Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf foreign funding case within 30 days.

The court stated that the PTI had raised objections regarding the participation of Akbar Babar in ECP proceedings.

“The status of Akbar Babar is thus no more than an informer… [Babar] cannot assert a right to be treated as if the dispute is of an adversarial nature, the court said.
The court orders also stated that there is “nothing on record” to indicate that PTI has been treated differently by the ECP.

The IHC order said, “We have not been able to persuade ourselves that the Appellant has been prejudiced in any manner.”
