Imran Khan vs PDM: establishment decides to make ‘soft interference’

Islamabad: The military establishment has decided to play a role in bringing an end to the current political crisis in Pakistan, said seasoned Pakistani journalist Ansar Abbasi on Saturday.

Citing reliable sources within the security establishment, the journalist associated with the country’s largest media group said that as a result of a soft intervention from the military, election may be held in October 2022.

He said that the establishment would bring the coalition government of Shehbaz Sharif and Imran Khan to the negotiating table to avert the economic disaster that is looming over Pakistan.

His statement came as a Supreme Court bench heard PTI’s plea seeking to dismiss Punjab Assembly Deputy Speaker Dost Muhammad Mazari’s ruling that helped Hamza Shehbaz Sharif retain his seat as Punjab chief minister.
