Imran Riaz attacks Hamid Mir after senior journalist defends his right to speak out in The Washington Post article
Islamabad: Anchor and YouTuber Imran Riaz Khan chose to launch personal attacks on Hamid Mir the day Capital Talk show host wrote in his favor.
In his oped piece for The Washington Post titled, “Pakistan at 75: Attacks against democratic institutions have to stop“, Mir talked about the latest ban on Imran Riaz Khan.
Hours after the article was published, Imraz Riaz addressed a seminar which was also attended by former prime minister Imran Khan, senior journalist Ayaz Amir and others.
Speaking at the event, Imran Riaz accused Mir of being the reason behind the threats he received over his video clip critical of a religious party.
He also accused the Geo News anchor of speaking against the establishment and then seeking forgiveness.
Imran Riaz used inappropriate language against Mir in front of the PTI chairman and the top leadership of the party.
After Imran Riaz’s remarks targeting Hamid Mir went viral, social media users urged Imran Khan to avoid paying attention to the empty rhetoric coming from the likes of Imran Riaz and other anchors and YouTubers who seem hell bent on pitting his party against the powerful military establishment, the opposition alliance and everyone who choose to disagree with him.
