Justice Qazi Faez Isa’s letter to chief justice raises eyebrows

Islamabad: Senior Supreme Court judge Justice Qazi Faez Isa has written a letter to Chief Justice of Pakistan Justice Atta Muhammad Bandial regarding the meeting of the Supreme Judicial Council for the appointment of new judges.

In his letter, Qazi Faez Isa requested the chief justice to postpone the meeting which is scheduled to be held on July 28th.

Justice Qazi Faez Isa has raised objections on JCP July 28 meeting to consider CJP Bandial’s five nominees for appointment of SC judges. Justice Isa requested CJP not to act ‘arbitrarily and reminded him that arrogance (takabbur) and ego (anaa) is abhorred by Almighty Allah’.

Justice Isa is currently on leaves and reportedly vacationing in Spain.

His letter came at a time when the chief justice, Justice Ijazul Ahsan and Justice Munib Akhtar are facing criticism from the ruling coalition for refusing to form a full court bench to decide the outcome of the recently held election for the Punjab chief minister.

The letter is likely to be used by the PDM allies to criticize the apex court judges.
