Kiran Naz wears hijab on Samaa TV show for ‘liberal-bashing’
Karachi: Samaa TV’s anchor Kiran Naz on Thursday wore hijab on her show to express solidity with the woman who observe the religious veil.
Kiran Naz became top hashtag trend on Twitter after thousands of people praised her for what they said defending hijab.
While majority seemed to support her for wearing hijab on her show, some users accused her of hypocrisy and using religion to promote her show and liberal bashing.
Kiran was also accused of appeasing right wing viewers as she took aim at Pakistan’s nuclear physicist and activist Pervez Hoodbhoy who recently took part in a TV show hosted by anchor Gharidah Farooqi. The scientist was accused of opposing hijab during a debate on Single National Curriculum on Gharidah’s show.
