Rawalpindi: Three officers sentenced on 30, May, 2019 have been handed over to civil jail authorities, military spokesman said on Saturday referring to Lt. General (retd) Javed Iqbal, Brigadier Raja Rizwan and Doctor Wasim Akram convicted for spying.

Major General Asif Ghafoor, the Director General of army’s media wing ISPR said the convicts had been immediately arrested on the basis of intelligence information about their involvement in the activities against the country.

He said the three men remained under military custody throughout their respective trial.

The military on Friday said Lt. General Javed Iqbal Awan was sentenced to 14 years in jail and Brigadier Raja Rizwan and Doctor Wasim Akram were handed down capital punishment for leaking information to foreign intelligence agencies.
