Malala’s family mourns death of her uncle

London: Malala Yousafzai’s family is mourning the death of her maternal uncle Liaqat Ali Khan. Ziauddin Yousafzai, the father of the Nobel Laureate, said in a Twitter statement that the elder brother of his wife Toor Pekai passed away, without sharing the cause of his death.

Sharing a throwback picture with his brother-in-law, Yousafzai requested people to keep Khan in their prayers.

“I share with a heavy heart that my wife Toor Pekai’s elder brother Liaqat Ali Khan has passed away. Please keep him in your prayers,” he said.

Thousands of Pakistanis, including journalists and members of civil society, have offered condolences to Ziauddin Yousafzai and Malala over the death of Liaqat Ali Khan.
