Martial law in Pakistan becomes Twitter trend as PM Imran loses majority

Islamabad: Martial Law became hashtag trend on Twitter on Wednesday after thousands of people, mostly Prime Minister Imran Khan’s supporters, said they would prefer military rule over any government formed by the opponents of the former cricket hero.

More than eight thousands tweets were posted since MQM, a key ally of the government announced that it had joined the opposition’s camp.

With latest defections, Prime Minister Imran Khan has apparently lost majority in the National Assembly, the lower house of the parliament.

MQM’s announcement to part ways with Khan’s government was followed by Army Chief General Bajwa and ISI chief Lt. General Nadeem Anjum’s two visits to the Prime Minister House.

Meanwhile, the army has given no indication that it plans to impose martial law in Pakistan.
