Military contradicts reports of drone attack in Pakistan
Peshawar: Pashtoon Tahaffuz Movement (PTM) leader Manzoor Pashteen on Wednesday said an alleged drone attack killed two children in Zangara area of South Waziristan.
Pashteen said the drone attack was carried out on a shop in South Waziristan.
Citing security sources, anchor Jasmeen Manzoor said there was no drone attack and the children lost their lives during a security operation.
Military’s media wing ISPR said that an intense exchange of fire took place in South Waziristan between security forces and terrorists in which eight terrorists were killed and two soldiers were injured.
It said the children died during the exchange of fire between the terrorists and the security forces.
Meanwhile, social media accounts associated with the Pakiatan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) seemed to believe in Manzoor Pashteen’s version of the events and started spreading the reports that the children died in the alleged US drone attack.
They said it was Imran Khan who safeguarded Pakistan’s sovereignty and never allowed the US to carry out drone attacks during his stint as the prime minister of Pakistan.
