NA-240: MQM defeats TLP amid low turnout over Altaf’s boycott call

Karachi: The Muttahida Qaumi Movement (MQM) Pakistan defeated the Tehreek-e-Labbaik Pakiatan in by-election in Korangi’s NA-240.

The TLP said the MQM won through rigging in the closely contested polls.

MQM’s Muhammad Abu Bakar won the seat that fell vacant after the death of the party’s MNA.

The MQM candidate defeated TLP’s Shahzad Shahbaz by 65 votes.

The turn out was lower than 9 percent mainly because of boycott call given by Altaf Hussain.
