Nazia Gulzar, ex-Senator’s sister, tests positive for coronavirus
Lahore: Nazia Gulzar, a sister of former Senator Waqar Gulzar has tested positive for the coronavirus, prompting the authorities to conduct tests of multiple people who she had recently met at a gathering of around 60 people.
According to leading English daily Pakistan Today, the woman, a resident of Lahore’s Gulberg area, had attended the gathering at a cafe in the provincial capital of Punjab, sparking fears that other participants might have contracted the novel coronavirus also known as COVID-19.
The report said the authorities approached the patient and quarantined her house in order to prevent further spread of the deadly virus.
The report stated that the patient had got her tests done from a private lab which sent the report to government officials concerned after finding she was infected.
Assisstant Commissioner Zeehshan Ranja, according to Pakistan Today, visited Gulzar House and had a meeting with family of Nazia Gulzar.
Ranjha reportedly confirmed that the woman has been shifted to Mayo Hospital for treatment.
