Pakistan Defence Minister Pervez Khattak criticized for ‘justifying’ Sialkot lynching

Islamabad: Defence Minister Pervez Khattak is being criticized for his controversial remarks about Sialkot lynching of a Sri Lankan factory manager.

Khattak, a senior leader of the ruling Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf, seemed to downplay the tragedy which sent shock waves through the country when a mob killed the foreigner and set his body on fire over blasphemy allegations.

Khattak appeared to suggest that it was an act of some zealous youth which got provoked in the name of Islam. He said the incident should not be linked to TLP. “It happened when some youngsters gathered and changed Islam slogans.”
