She, however, didn’t elaborate on what led PM to express concern over adult content being watched on large scale when it is officially been banned in the country .
Firdouse Ashiq Awan’s statement was run on Geo TV ticker and it met with a string of sarcastic comments from government’s critics.
Prominent among those was Umar Cheema,a senior journalist , who while commenting on Firdous Ashiq Awan’s remarks said the PTA had already banned such websites. “Who told the prime minister they are still accessible,” he asked.
The Pakistan Telecommunication Authority (PTA) last year informed the Supreme Court of Pakistan that approximately 0.4 million porn websites have been blocked.
According to a report submitted to apex court by the PTA, 9,846 proxies have been blocked.
