Saifullah Niazi likely to replace Sheikh Rasheed as interior minister
Islamabad: Senior Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf leader Senator Saifullah Khan Niazi is expected to replace Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed as Interior Minister, said an Islamabad journalist on Saturday.
Journalist Israr Rajpoot said that the portfolio of the interior minister may be handed over to Niazi, a close confidante of Prime Minister Imran Khan.
The journalist said that the report was shared with him by sources within the Imran Khan’s camp.
The speculation comes hours after Interior Minister Sheikh Rasheed returned from Dubai in the wake of Tehreek-e-Labbaik’s protests.
The clashes between police and the TLP left two cops dead on Friday when the religious party started its march towards Islamabad.
The TLP is demanding the release of its chief Saad Hussain Rizvi.
