Saturday holiday restored in Pakistan

Islamabad: The federal government on Tuesday announced to restore Saturday holiday.

The decision has been taken to reduce petrol, diesel and electricity consumption amid energy crisis in Pakistan by Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif and his cabinet.

The government has deferred the decision on early closure of markets.

The cabinet also discussed the possibility of allowing government employees to work from home.

Shehbaz Sharif’s decision to end Saturday holiday had sparked countrywide protests.

Bankers and government employees were on the forefront of the protests over the government’s decision.
