Shehbaz Sharif will ask president to dissolve the assembly after defeat in Punjab by-election?

Islamabad: Majority of Pakistanis and senior political experts on Sunday urged Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif to dissolve the National Assembly and call early elections after his party lost majority in the by-elections on 20 seats.

National Assembly is dissolved by the president on the advice of the prime minister.

The prime minister’s son Hama Shehbaz is all set to be removed as the Punjab chief minister after the PTI’s victory in the by-polls.

Even PMLN supporters asked the prime minister to resign as he has lost the moral authority to run the government as his party will have no provincial government after PTI’s victory in Punjab.

According to experts, Shehbaz Sharif would ask for the dissolution of the assembly after consultation with his allies.

Some journalists were of the view that Shehbaz Sharif would try to cling to power even after the defeat his party had at the hands of the PTI.

The Sunday’s loss for the PML-N came as a surprise for many as the party was convinced to win majority of seats.

Former prime minister Nawaz Sharif is expected to ask his younger brother to call early elections.

Nawaz Sahrif is likely to return to Pakistan soon to run the party’s election campaign.
