Islamabad: The police have arrested senior politician Sheikh Rasheed Ahmed, his nephew Rashid Shafique confirmed after midnight on Thursday.

PTI chairman Imran Khan has condemned the the arrested of Sheikh Rasheed in statement on Twitter.

Strongly condemn arrest of Sh Rasheed.Never in our history have we had such a biased, vindictive Caretaker govt appt by totally discredited ECP. Question is can Pak afford a street movement which we are being pushed towards at a time when we have been bankrupted by Imported Govt?

According to Geo News, Rasheed was arrested by the police from Motorway and shifted to a police station.

Sheikh Rasheed was arrested after he was nominated in a case for claiming former president Asif Ali Zardari wanted to kill former prime minister Imran Khan.

After he was summoned by police on a complaint, the Awami Muslim League leader backtracked on his statement, saying he had only repeated Imran Khan’s words.
