Shia protesters gather at D-Chowk against ban on Allama Shahenshah Naqvi
Islamabad: Hundreds of Shia protesters gathered at the capital’s D-Chowk on Saturday night after a prominent cleric was banned from delivering speech in the city.
The demonstrators said Allama Shahenshah Naqvi was to deliver a sermon in Islamabad but the local administration stopped him.
The demonstrators also chanted slogans against police authorities for registration of an FIR against Allama Naqvi.
A large number of police was deployed in the area to stop the protesters from entering the Red Zone.
Shahenshah Naqvi’s opponents have accused him of publicly criticizing Sahaba, a claim he denies.
