Shoaib Malik asks media, fans to refrain from dragging families into discussions

Pakistan cricketer Shoaib Malik on Monday requested media and fans to refrain from dragging families of players into petty discussions.

The former Pakistan captain took to Twitter hours after a video of Shoaib Malik, his wife Sania Mirza and some Pakistan team players eating at restaurant went viral.

Infuriated over Pakistan’s humiliating defeat at the hands of India, fans criticized the players for enjoying in England.

“On behalf of all athletes I would like to request media and people to maintain respect levels in regards to our families, who should not be dragged into petty discussions at will,” Malik wrote on Twitter after his wife’s Twitter spat with Pakistani actress Veena Malik.

“It’s not a nice thing to do,” Malik tweeted.
