Islamabad: The Islamia University Bahawalpur scandal started with the arrest of a police constable.
Some purported videos of Wali Daad Cheema, the son of federal minister Tariq Basheer Cheema, were recovered from the constable’s mobile phone.
The scandal involving sex videos of thousands of female students rocked Pakistan, with people accusing the country’s powerful elite of protecting the criminals.
The university’s security chief Major (retd) Ijaz Shah was also allegedly a part of the gang that abused the students and made their videos.
Shah was arrested after the scandal unfolded.
Sources said that the security chief would blackmail students after recording their intimate moments with their male friends on CCTV cameras.
The students were coerced into having sex with Wali Dad and his gang after being shown their compromised clips recorded on the campus’s security cameras.
