US Embassy Islamabad criticized for voicing support for LGBTQ community

Islamabad: US Embassy in Islamabad has drawn criticism for expressing support to the LGBTQI+ community.

The embassy has been criticized by right wing social media users and a Jamaat-e-Islami Senator for its recent statement.

A twitter statement from the US Embassy Islamabad said, “Mission Pakistan works to strengthen and support the LGBTQI+ community.We strive every day to ensure the human rights of the LGBTQI+ community are respected and protected from oppression.We continue to press for full equality.”

Jamaat-e-Islami Senator Mushtaq Ahmed Khan criticized the embassy and Saks “transgender law is against the Quran and Sunnah and its disructive for the family system.’
