Video of Judge Arshad Malik stirs controversy
Lahore: PMLN leader Maryam Nawaz on Saturday revealed that judge Arshad Malik who convicted her father in a corruption reference was forced to decide against Nawaz Sharif.
To corroborate her claim, she ran an alleged video of the Accountability Judge confessing to a PMLN leader Nasir Butt that no evidence of corruption was found against the former prime minister.
Speaking at a press conference along with her uncle Shehbaz Sharif and other party leaders she said the judge was shown an immoral video of him to extract the judgement against Nawaz Sharif.
The PMLN leader said she had more such videos that could reveal some names who were behind the conspiracy against her father.
Judge Arshad Malik allegedly told Nasir Butt that he had burden on his conscience for jailing the PMLN leader.
According to the PMLN leader the judge has nightmares and couldn’t continue living with a burdened conscience so he decided to reveal that Nawaz Sharif had nothing to do with corruption.
Govt reacts
Prime Minister’s Advisor on Information and Broadcasting Firdous Ashiq Awan criticized Maryam Nawaz for maligning the judiciary for the sake of her family.
She said the PMLN leader should approach courts to get her grievances addressed.
Communications Minister Murad Saeed said the alleged video of the judge is fake.
PEMRA issues notices to TV channels
The electronic media watchdog has issued notices to TV channels for unedited live telecast of Maryam Nawaz.
