What happened to Cynthia Ritchie, US blogger who accused Pakistani politician of raping her?

Islamabad: Cynthia Ritchie made headlines last year when she accused former interior minister Rehman Malik of raping her.

The American filmmaker, analyst, and social media enthusiast had also accused former Pakistani prime minister Yousuf Raza Gilani of harassing her. The case was later settled out of the court.

Cynthia Ritchie, a controversial figure in Pakistan, on Wednesday was moved to a medical facility after she was found unconscious at her flat in Diplomatic Enclave in the Pakistani capital.

According to private broadcaster ARY, the US citizen has recorded her statement to the Islamabad police. She reportedly told the cops that she was given an intoxicant by unknown Indian men who had visited her in a bid to stop her from working in Pakistan’s favor.

ARY’s report could not be independently confirmed.
