What is Electoral College?: US election 2020 results

In US presidential election, the popular vote does not determine the winner of presidency.

The results is decided by the Electoral College.

During the elections, Americans cast their votes for a group of electors appointed by their states’ political parties who are supposed to support that party’s candidate but they don’t always do so.

Candidates focus on key battleground states to boost their electoral advantage and reach the required 279 votes of the total 538 up for grabs.
