Who will be the next ISI honcho?

Islamabad: Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa and Director General Inter-Services Intelligence (ISI) Lt.Gen Faiz Hamid called on Prime Minister Imran Khan on Monday.

According to an official statement, matters pertaining to internal and external security were discussed during the meeting.

The meeting between the three powerful men came amid speculations that a change of command was expected in ISI, with several journalist claiming that former DG ISPR Asif Ghafoor would replace Gen Faiz Hamid as the spymaster.

Some journalists rejected the rumors saying no change was expected at the ISI, with one saying that if change happens, Lt. General Azhar Abbas would likely replace the current honcho.

The video released by the Prime Minister’s Office of the meeting shows that nothing “was cooking in Islamabad” as suggested by some Islamabad-based journalists.
