Why Shehbaz Sharif should not dissolve assembly explains Najam Sethi

Islamabad:Prime Minister Shehbaz Sharif can benefit from the declining oil prices if he decides not to dissolve the assembly, said veteran journalist Najam Sethi.

Talking on his Channel 24 talkshow, he said Shehbaz Sharif’s stay in office after defeat in Punjab by-polls would be possible only if the establishment does not pressurize him to step down.

Sethi said in the last 10 minutes of his show that the establishment is not willing to pressurize the government for now because the failure to get IMF loan would affect it the most.

He said that early elections that would have been the better option in April are no longer beneficial for the PML-N because it has already taken the brunt of its decisions on the economic front.

He said that oil prices would decline further after US President Joe Biden’s visit to Saudi Arabia. The senior political commentator said that prices of essential items would also decrease in the next few months.

Sethi added that in that case Imran Khan will bring a long march from Punjab and Khyber Paktunkhwa to pressurize the establishment to oust Shehbaz Sharif.
