Why was Azam Swati arrested?

Islamabad: The Pakistan Tehreek-e-Insaf (PTI) is protesting the arrest of its Senator Azam Awati.

Shahbaz Gill claimed that the Federal Investigation Agency (FIA) stripped and tortured the senator.

Initially it was reported that Swati was arrested in connection with the prohibited funding case.

The report turned out to be incorrect. The politician was arrested for his controversial tweet targeting Chief of the Army Staff General Qamar Javed Bajwa.

The Senator had held the army chief responsible for Shehbaz Sharif and Hamza Shehbaz’s acquittal in money laundering case.
