8chan post shows El Paso shooter was inspired by New Zealand mosque attacker

Th gunman who killed 20 people at Walmart in El Paso, Texas, was inspired by Brenton Tarrant, a mass shooter who killed 51 Muslims at a mosque in Christchurch, New Zealand in March.

Following the shooting in El Paso, the internet users found a four-page manifesto posted by the gunman to 8chan before the shooting.

The 21-year old suspected shooter wrote that he was inspired the Christchurch mosque shooter in New Zealand who had live-streamed the video of mass shooting line on Facebook after revealing his plan on 8chan.

The El Paso gunman outlined his plans to perpetrate a mass shooting against the Latino people he believes are invading the United States, the weapons he will use to do it, and his white nationalist beliefs.

According to local media, the manifesto was also found on 4chan.

What is 8chan and 4chan?

Unlike Facebook, Twitter and other popular social media sites, members of platforms like 8chan and 4chan engage in racism and hatred towards people of color and anyone who happens to disagree with their twisted views.

Founded in 2013 by Fredrick Brennan, 8chan is now owned by Jim Watkins, an American based in Philippines. The forum is banned appearing Google search results for violation of terms of use.
