A new approach to journalism

Asif Ali displays his Punjabi sense of humor in post-match press conference

Dubai: Asif Ali was the Man of the Match in Pakistan’s third T20 World Cup match against Afghanistan.

He hit four consecutive sixes to take Pakistan home after refusing to take a single on the last ball of the 19th over.

The right-handed batsman has become hero in Pakistan for his stellar performance against Afhanistana.

Asif belongs to Punjab’s Faisalabad city, a city whose residents are famous for cracking jokes and wit.

After watching his blistering batting, fans also witnessed Asif’s Faisalabadi sense of humor in the post-match media talk.

When Asif Ali came, he hesitated before choosing a seat in front of the journalists.

When someone asked him to take a certain seat, he quipped in Punjabi “Ah Kehra MNA Di Ay” (It’s not reserved for MNA, does it?).

While the phrase simply translate to “What’s special about it”, only a Punjabi can understand the gist of the joke and the power of an MNA (lawmaker) in rural Pakistan.
