Pakistan chances in World Cup

No matter how much optimistic captain Sarfraz Ahmed, his teammates, coach Mickey Aurther and fans are about Pakistan’s chances of qualifying for the semifinals of the World Cup, fact is that they have further deceased after New Zealand’s win over South Africa.

The green-shirts chances got slimmer when they lost against Indian on Sunday. It was their second straight and third loss overall in the tournament.

According to Geo News, In the best case scenario, Pakistan will have to win their remaining four matches. With those wins, the team’s points tally will be 11. However, Pakistan have the worst net run rate (NRR) and any chance of making it to the final four will require other teams to falter. Pakistan will need New Zealand, South Africa and Bangladesh to lose all their remaining matches. The West Indies will also need to lose two of their remaining matches. West Indies have lost to Bangladesh but New Zealand thrashed South Africa on Wednesday.

Pakistan team’s destiny was no longer in their hands after they were humiliated by Indian in Old Trafford Cricket Ground.
