The Senator was egged less than a day after he condemned the Christchurch shooting in a statement written on the letterhead of Australian government and went on to justify the massacre, blaming Muslim and Islam for the incident instead of the killer.

Police released William Connolly without pressing any charges while they were looking into the Senator’s punching of the teenager.

An Australian gunman identified as Brenton Harrant, 28, on Friday opened fire on worshippers in two mosques in Christchurch, killing at least 49 Muslims and injuring many others.

Bangladesh cricket team narrowly escaped the shooting at the mosque where they arrived when Harrant had just sprayed worshippers with bullets.

He used a semi-automatic weapon while explosive were also found fitted in his vehicle. The right wing extremist live-streamed the shooting on Facebook, but the video was later removed from the internet.

Although William Connolly has yet to explain the reason why he egged the Senator, he was apparently angry over the Anning’s response to the shooting that was carried out by an Australian terrorist
