Peshawar Zalmi on Wednesday released its Pashto language anthem for the Pakistan Super League fourth edition a day before the opening ceremony of the tournament takes place in UAE.
The song is sung by renowned singer Gul Panra and Pashto singer Zeek Afridi.
Written by Laiq Zaida the song highlights cultural historical backgrounds of Khyber Paktunkhwa in general and Peshawar in particular.
Peshwar Zalmi chairman Javed Afrdi said the team anthem is the voice of entire Khyber Paktunkhwa and expressed the hope that his team will perform well in the PSL and fulfill the expectations of fans.
Pashto or English
Sharing an English song on Twitter, Javed Afridi on January 26 had asked fans whether it could be the Peshawar Zalmi’s anthem for the PSL.
Released in 2014, the song was sung by American singer Gavin Shane Degrew. The fans, however, stood divided with some saying the song should be released in Pashto or Urdu language.
The PSL chairman finally settled for a Pashto track and the franchise released a day before the PSL begins, calling it the most awaited song of the year.
