Australia: Eid 2021 moonsighting on Wednesday

Sydney: The moonsighting body in Australia would observe the crescent of Shawwaal (Eid-ul-Fitr) on Wednesday, 12 May.

According to a statement issued by the Moon Sighting Australia, Eid-ul-Fitr would fall either on 13 or 14 of May 2021.

Muslim celebrate the festival of Eid after fasting for 29 or 30 days (subject to moonsighting) every year.

The statement read, “Moonsighting Australia is determined to carry on the Sunnah of moonsighting and there will declare the date of Eid-ul-Fitr only after the crescent has or has not been sighted.”

The moonsighting made the announcement after collecting evidence of sightingof the crescent from several cities.
