Denise Lee leaked email against Judith Collins and Maungakiekie results

Denise Lee beat Priyanca Radhakrishnan, who is a Labour list MP, by 580 candidate votes on Saturday, hanging on to Maungakiekie seat.

Denise recently courted controversy when an email from her criticising the National Party leader Judith Collins was leaked.

Criticising a policy announced to review the local body, Lee had called it a “highly problematic idea”, a “nightmare” and “another working group”. She said bypassing her was “incredibly poor form and displayed a shockingly bad example of poor culture”.

She letter addressed her leaked email in a statement:

Following the election result, a Twitter user praised her, saying she arguably ran the best campaign of any Nat. “Her email play was a masterstroke. She knew it would leak,” a user wrote.
