Erdogan’s party calls for re-election in Istanbul
Ankara: The ruling party in Turkey has demanded rerun of local election after being defeated in Istanbul.
The demand came after the top r electroral body rejected a demand for a recount of all ballots cast in the city.
The AKP, the party of Turkish President Recep Tayyip Erdogan, had approached the Supreme Electoral Council, after results showed the party´s Istanbul candidate narrowly lost in last week´s local election.
“We will take the path of extraordinary appeal… We will say that we want the election in Istanbul to be repeated,” Ali Ihsan Yavuz ,the deputy chairman of the party told the media .
