FACT-CHECK: Did Bolivian president quit over video scandal?

Internet users across the world were recently found circulating a scandalous video which they claimed purport to show interim Bolivian President Jeanine Anez.

Some Facebook pages are claiming that she had resigned after her sex scandal emerged.

The reports are incorrect. Jeanine Anez became interim president after long time leader former leftist President Evo Morales’s departure in the wake of a highly-contested October election in Bolivia.

She is still serving on the same position and expected to oversee the state of affairs on the same position until elections are held again in May.

A TV channel also carried a report on social media posts regarding the video of Bolivian President.

He had proclaimed victory after his government was accused of manipulating the vote results. Morales, who had been in power nearly 14 years, left Bolivia as the controversy grew.

Last month she said that Bolivia will issue an arrest warrant in the coming days against Morales who had left for Argentina.
