Fact-check: Has Iran fired rockets into Israel to avenge attacks on Palestinians?

Islamabad: WhatsApp groups and some social media websites in Pakistan and elsewhere are flooded with videos and photos of a purported Iranian attack on Israel.

The claims accompanying the clips and pictures are incorrect as the Islamic Republic has not launched any attack against Israel to avenge the killings of Palestinians in the latest violence.

The false claims being made in WhatsApp message being circulated read, “Iran takes the lead. Iran fires 110 rockets into Israel. Emergency declared in Israel. Israel vows to avenge the Iranian attacks that were carried out from Syrian border”

Meanwhile, Iranian Supreme Leader Ayatollah Ali Khamenei called on Palestinians on Tuesday to build up their fighting power to stop Israel’s “brutality”, saying Israelis “only understand the language of force”.
