Flight ET 302: 157 people reported dead as Ethiopian Airlines plane crashes
Nairobi: Ethiopian Airlines Plane Boeing 737 crashed minutes after take off on Sunday with 157 people including passengers and crew aboard, official said.
The Office of Ethopian Prime Minsiter Abiy Ahmed’s office said on Twitter “The Office of the PM, on behalf of the Government and people of Ethiopia, would like to express it’s deepest condolences to the families of those that have lost their loved ones on Ethiopian Airlines Boeing 737 on regular scheduled flight to Nairobi, Kenya this morning.
“We hereby confirm that our scheduled flight ET 302 from Addis Ababa to Nairobi was involved in accident today,” the airline said in a statement.
The airline said as many as 149 passengers and eight crew were on board the flight en route from Addis Ababa to Nairobi when it crashed.
“search and rescue operations are in progress and we have no confirmed information about survivors or any possible casualties,” the statement said.
The plane took off at 8:30 am from Bole International Airport and lost contact six minutes later, it said.
