Why is Pakistan opposing 370 revocation in Kashmir?

India on Monday revoked Article 370 and 35A which granted Kashmir special status.

Article 35A permits the local legislature in Indian-administered Kashmir to define permanent residents of the region. It meant that only Kashmiris can decide who is Kashmiri and who is not. No one outside region was allowed to purchased land or acquire government jobs there.

Although Pakistan did not approve of the Indian occupation of Kashmir, the latest Indian move is being seen in Islamabad as an attempt to change demography of the Muslim majority region.

Most of Pakistanis, like Kashmiris, think that India would settle Hindus in the valley to change the ratio of population there.

Some of them have even drawn parallels between Palestine and Kashmir and believe that the India would follow in the footsteps of its ally Israel which has occupied lands in West Bank and Gaza.

Israel is settling Jews in the occupied territory forcing the Arabs out of their lands.

The Jewish state has ignored all the calls for an end to settlements in occupied territory.

Some political experts in Pakistan are of the view that Indian won’t be able to change the demography of Kashmir since the Muslims there have full political and diplomat support from Pakistan, which is also a nuclear armed state.

To corroborate their argument, they have cited latest Indian media reports that once the curfew is lifted and internet services restored Kashmiris will come out and put fear of God in Indian authorities.

Others think given opposition of the Modi government’s move inside India, Supreme Court can also revoke its decision to abolish article 370.
