Action initiated against Brigadier Shafique?
Rawalpindi: Some PTI supporters and journalists on Saturday started speculating that action against ISPR Director Brigadier Shafique Malik has been initiated by his department.
They said that an inquiry has been launched in connection with the murder of journalist Arshad Sharif and he has been suspended.
The reports could not be independently confirmed.
Journalist Ahmed Mansoor, who covers issues related to the defence and the military, last month wrote a Twitter thread which contained an alleged WhatsApp conversation between him and Arshad Sharif, who was also known as a pro-military journalist.
In the chat, Mansoor asks Arshad Sharif to explain whether Brigadier Shafique was the target of the ARY anchor’s viral tweets which contained a fictional character.
Arshad Sharif’s purported WhatsApp message shows he dispelled the impression that he took aim at the military officer in his tweets.
