The month of Ramazan has started in Pakistan and citizens are wondering if the central bank this year would issue fresh currency notes to the general public.

According to experts, the country is in the grip of third wave of the novel coronavirus which is proving deadlier than the first two waves it has witnessed.

Keeping in view the State Bank of Pakistan’s last year decision, it seems highly unlikely that people would get their hands on fresh currency notes this Eid-ul-Fitr.

In 2019, the SBD had launched 8877 SMS service for issuance of fresh curreny notes to the people.

People were directed to book their notes through the SMS service before visiting the 1702 e-branches and 16 SBP BSC offices in 142 cities across Pakistan. The charges for the service were 1.50 plus tax, per SMS.
